2nd annual Slow Festival Paragliding Competition
Following the success of 2011’s 1st annual Slow Festival Paragliding Competition, we are proud to present the 2nd annual Slow Festival Paragliding Competition for 2012. The competition forms part of the Slow Festival’s main event list, and will run for the duration of the Festival.
The objective of this event is to participate in the Slow Festival celebrations of Sedgefield, which received the status of being Africa’s first CITTA Slow Town in 2010, and thus to support the tourism in the region and at the same time promote our sport.
Last year’s event saw 30 pilots of different levels of proficiency take to the sky and compete in a challenging, but fun – filled, competition. Our overall Pilot of the Week award was won by Theuns Koekemoer, which consisted of a floating trophy and an accommodation voucher from Pelican Lodge to the value of approximately R4 000. 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes to a total value of R14 000 were distributed through all the classes and consisted of Medals, Spa Vouchers, Meal Vouchers, etc.
Taking into consideration the huge success we had raising funds for Dominique du Toit and her family last year, we have decided to donate all our proceeds once again to a deserving and worthy cause.
A limited amount of T-shirts will be for sale during the course of the competition and more can be ordered in advance to avoid disappointment. (More info) We encourage you to buy a t-shirt and support our cause even if you won’t be able to enter the competition.
